When I started my infertility and IVF journey, I needed all the support I could get… however, I preferred most of the support to be “virtual,” so I joined an IVF Reddit Forum, IVF Facebook Groups, and followed many Infertility-Specific Instagram and Tik Tok accounts. My favorite infertility support, though, ultimately comes in the form of Podcasts.
I have listened to tons of podcasts around the topic of Infertility and IVF, but five stood out to me and continue to provide me with a sense of belonging and support needed as we navigate these infertile waters. Below are my top 5 podcasts discussing infertility, IVF, and everything in between (in no particular order by the way).
Big Fat Negative (BFN) Podcast: Gabby and Emma share real, raw, emotions surrounding their respective infertility/ivf journeys, as well as engage in fantastic interviews to help you learn more about Infertility and IVF. I love their personalities, realistic perspectives, and their ability to connect with any type of listener. If I found this podcast prior to starting my journey with infertility, I am certain I would have been a regular listener because of these two fantastic hosts.
Fertility Docs Uncensored: Fertility Docs across the US come together to share their unique perspectives and experiences with different aspects to infertility. They incorporate Q&As from listeners in each episode (which is such a great way to connect to their audience), then jump into a specific topic about Infertility and/or IVF. I appreciate their conversations with each other, particularly when sharing their experiences, even if they may have differing opinions and approaches. I especially love how these doctors also take a moment to have real conversations with each other at the start of the episodes. I don’t know about you, but I find it incredibly refreshing when people (specifically doctors) remind us that they are more than just their profession. Sure, they are great at what they do, but hearing about their lives outside of work personalizes them a bit more and gives a sense of community. Instead of “Hey! We are doctors, so you should listen,” Fertility Docs Uncensored is more like, “Hey! We are doctors… but we are also REAL people who want to genuinely connect with our listeners and ensure you understand this process. You are not alone.” I truly adore this podcast and I hope you do too.
As a Woman Podcast: When I think of support for infertility warriors… I think of Natalie Crawford, MD. This woman is a trailblazer for talking about fertility, IVF, and the mental health surrounding it. She does a fantastic job of explaining all the intricacies of infertility and IVF, all while sharing her own personal journey along the way. Highly recommend!
Egg Whisperer: If you want fertility-related education with realistic, but also funny at times, content… Egg erer is for you. What is so special about this podcast? The host, Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh. Dr. Aimee has a unique and fun way of providing answers to those fertility questions we constantly think about, but likely struggle to understand the answers to. Her delivery is always honest, thoughtful, and in many instances… hilarious! I always find myself chuckling or smiling when listening to The Egg Whisperer. It is so clear that Dr. Aimee has a passion for this field, and wants to share that passion with her listeners (and patients).
Dear Infertility: A podcast that has recently joined my favorites list is Dear (In)Fertility Podcast. The emotional toll TTC and Infertility have on you is so hard to put into words. And yet this podcast manages to tackle these feelings and struggles by talking with real people going through these real tough times as it pertains to infertility. It is such a breath of fresh air to listen to other people going through things you may be, too. You don’t feel quite as alone. This podcast provides that comfort for me!
Bonus Podcast - Everyday Infertility: I just started listening to this podcast after my failed FET cycle, so the podcast is new to me, but I have quickly fallen in love with Savannah and her ability to authentically speak on her infertility journey. I also love how she incorporates her husband’s perspective as well, which is something I hope to also do soon for the IVF Bestie Community.
So, there you have it. My top 5 (plus one bonus) podcasts for the infertility and IVF journey. I feel like I owe so much of my strength during my journey so far to these podcast hosts! They inspired me to help continue curating a community of inclusivity, kindness, and general support for all people going through this journey with me.
Check out my IVF Bestie Spotify Playlist where I have selected some of my favorite episodes from each of these podcasts. Consider it a sampling of what these fantastic hosts have to offer! Let me know what you think.
Do you have a favorite podcast not listed above? Let me know! I would love to check it out and give it a listen 🙂
